Building a new relationship after my wife's death.

My wife died on April 1st, 2004 and I am trying to learn what that means to me and to my life. What do I need to learn and what do I need to do? - After 18 months I have met a woman and we are dating. This is a new phase for me. - I have remarried and my life is very good again:-)

I am on vacation today and I am going to Reno for the National Championship Air Races. Should be a good trip, last year it was very cold and we nearly froze but this year the forecast calls for mid 70’s so it should be nice. Looking forward to seeing the old planes in action again.

This week I meet a woman who was a fix-up for me. We met for coffee on Wednesday, evening. She may have been nice enough but she seemed not a very good fit for me so I felt pretty awkward and was not comfortable. But I guess I am no worse for the wear. But still, I have no plans to repeat this experience. I do think about how I will every meet someone or even if I will ever meet someone. It is not a big concern but something I think I should begin to figure out, one of these days.

Not much else is new. Mom had some minor surgery yesterday in Pullman and Joe reports that it went well and she come home from the hospital later this morning. He thinks she will feel better (this will help clear up her persistent urinary track infection). He says that her attitude seemed better yesterday evening, I am not sure what that means but it sounds good.

I have been busy. Last weekend I attended Scott’s season opener football game and his team won 26 to 6. He played a lot at center, his new position, and although he still has to settle in some more he did pretty well. I have firmed up my travel plans for the next couple of months. I will visit Jake for Max’s birthday party on Oct. 22 – 23 and visit Dad in Atlanta for Thanksgiving. I think Deanna and Marissa will make the same trip, which will be fun. Jake and Max will be up for one of Scott’s games on Oct. 8-9. I also have the Reno Air Race trip coming up and the AMLS (sports cars) in Monterey. The only open item is when (and if) I will visit Pullman and Colfax I may set that up for the first part of November.

Not much else is new. Dee from church is still working on introducing me to single women but so far she hasn’t found the time to get it started. She called last week but I was going to Deanna’s for Sunday, and she and Fred were leaving on a trip so any plans she has have to deferred for at least a few weeks. No hurry for me anyway.

My big project for now is making note cards from my photographs. I plan to make some and give them to folks for Christmas. So far I am happy with the way they are turning out. I may try to make my own cards this Christmas too. Have to see. I ordered a new Zoom lens for my camera but it won’t be in stock until Oct. It is a new 70- 300 IS from Canon the specs are impressive but we’ll have to see.

I’ll close for now.
